Useful answers

Stone Masonry & Flint Work questions

These answers cover the usual starting points. The wall itself decides the final specification.

Can you repoint Yorkshire sandstone?

Yes. Mortar strength, permeability, colour and joint profile are selected with the stone and exposure in mind.

Do you rebuild garden and boundary walls?

Local rebuilding and repair can be quoted after inspection. Foundations, movement and access affect what is practical.

Do you work with flint?

Specialist flint sections can be assessed, although flint is less common in South Yorkshire than sandstone and brick. We confirm suitability after seeing the work.

Why is hard cement a problem on some stone walls?

A dense joint can push moisture to the softer stone edges, where weathering may accelerate. The right specification depends on the wall.
