Brick Pointing & Repointing questions
These answers cover the usual starting points. The wall itself decides the final specification.
How do I know whether my house needs repointing?
Look for recessed, loose, cracked or powdery mortar. A site survey can distinguish local repairs from a full elevation that needs repointing.
Can you match the existing mortar colour?
We assess the aggregate, binder, colour and joint style. Exact ageing cannot be copied instantly, but the new work can be selected to sit appropriately with the building.
Is lime mortar always required?
Not every wall is the same. Many older solid wall properties benefit from a breathable lime based mortar, while later construction may use another specification. We confirm the wall type before quoting.
How long does repointing take?
The timescale depends on wall area, access, weather and the amount of preparation needed. Your written quote sets out the expected programme.
